Description
Trains approaching intersecting rail lines and junctions on a layout will find an important building known as the Interlocking Tower, a new Built-&-Ready® Landmark Structure®.
A crucial component of the railroad network, these towers house an interlocking track machine that controls train movements through signals, switches and track circuits. This system also guarantees safe operations at railway stations and junctions.
The interlocking machine's model board sits in the center of the tower's upstairs cabin and is visible from 360 degrees through windows on all sides. The operator's office desk, a wood stove, lanterns and additional features, such as pin-up posters and a calendar, can also be seen.The exterior of the two-story Interlocking Tower is loaded with authentic details, including a weathered, shingled roof, an identification sign stating "WS No. 7" and an upper deck with staircase to the ground level. Tires, a spool of wire, water hose, diesel tank and barrels give proof to the daily activity at the Tower, including a toolbox and a pair of boots on the deck outside the upstairs cabin door.
The building has three lights - two over the exterior doors and one interior upstairs light. The pre-wired LED lighting is made for use with the Just Plug® Lighting System.
